Flavorful Pakistani Kulcha Recipe: A Tandoori Oven Delight

Pakistani Kulcha Recipe is a Pakistani flat bread which is very similar to naan, but the main difference between them is that Naan is made of a refined white flour whereas kulcha tends to be made with a wheat flourNaan dough is leavened with yeast to make it soft and light. 

Kulcha is also topped with Till (sesame seeds) and is usually served in Breakfast.

Ingrediants for Pakistani Kulcha Recipe

  • 3 cups white flour
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • a Pinch of Baking Soda

Step to Step Method

·         Step 1 

Add white flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda in a bowl and salt in it.

·         Step 2

      Pour a little oil in the mixture. 

      Then Add yogurt and knead the dough and add water as required if necessary. The dough must be soft and not be very tight.

·         Step 3

        Leave the dough for sometime and cover with wet cloth for 2 hours. The dough will settle down due to Baking Powder and Baking Soda.

·         Step 4

       Preheat the Tandoor (traditional oven) at high temperature.

·         Step 5

        Make round balls of the dough and spread it in a tear shaped bread.
To make a good quality Kulcha try spreading it by hand by patting and pressing the dough firmly.

·           Step 6

      Put it in the Tandoor and cook for 8-10 minutes.  Kulcha is ready to be served.
