Lulusar or Lalusar is a group of mountain peaks and a lake in the Kaghan Valley in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

Lulusar Lake (also spelled Lulusir) is a lake at 3,410 m (11,190 ft), and is the primary headwaters of the Kunhar River. It flows southwest along the entire length of the Kaghan Valley, passing Jalkhand, Naran, Kaghan, Jared, Paras, and Balakot to its confluence with the Jhelum River. It is located about 50 kilometers (31 mi) from Naran and is accessible by any type of vehicle.

The lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, whose image is reflected in the stagnant blue-green waters of this approximately three-kilometer-long “L” shaped lake. Lulusar has a very charming beauty and its sight remains in the mind of tourists for a long time. 

It is surrounded by snow-capped hills whose purple and white shapes are reflected in the green-blue waters of the quiet lake, making it one of the most beautiful places in the valley. From Gittidas the journey continues through the Babusar Pass to Gilgit. This road is one of the highest in the world.

Lulusar, a picturesque lake is a natural attraction in Mansehra district, which is not affected by pollution as it is less visited by tourists. However, whoever visits this place remains awestruck by the soothing atmosphere and majestic beauty of the place. It is the best place to visit in the summer on your way to Gilgit Baltistan.

In the middle of massive mountains and lush green meadows lies the virgin lake Lulusar. The lake not only changes its color throughout the year and seasons but also shows different hues during different hours of the day depending on the sunlight. Due to fewer steps, this place remains untouched by pollution and garbage. 

Decorated with gold and blue flowers and smooth pebbles, this place fills the visitor’s eyes with tranquility and does not make it easy to leave. The stillness of the waters showcases the reflection of the sky and the surrounding mountains like a mirror.

How to reach Lulusar Lake?

Lulusar Lake is 48 km from Naran Bazar and is accessible by any vehicle, but the road remains closed most of the year due to heavy snowfall.

A jeep can be hired from Naran Valley to visit the lake. It takes approximately 3 hours to reach Lulusar from Naran. Jeeps can be hired from Naran to take you to Basel from where you can visit Lulusar in about 30 minutes. A road is being built around the lake to connect Naran/Basel with Chilas. The same route also leads to Babusar Pass.

There are no hotels near the lake, so you can keep Naran Valley as your base camp and visit Lulusar Lake during the day.
