Rush Peak is a mountain in the Karakoram Mountains in Gilgit Baltistan Region in Pakistan. It is located in the Nagar district of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Although not a high peak by local standards, it is notable as a remote tourist destination.
You can reach Rush Peak via Nagar Valley and Hoper Village. The summit can be reached via the Hoper Glacier (Bualtar Glacier) and the Barpu Glacier. The peak is relatively easy to climb in the summer months, and ascents were made by amateur climbers without proper climbing equipment. In winter, access to the mountain is difficult due to heavy snowfall.
The top of Rush Peak offers views of Miar Peak (6,824 m), Miar Glacier, and Phuparash Peak (6,574 m). On a clear day, you can look east and see some of the world’s tallest mountains, including K2 and Broad Peak. At the foot of the mountain lies one of the highest alpine lakes in the world, Rush Lake (4,694 m).

Rush Peak History
It is the junction of the two famous glaciers Barpu and Bualter. Interestingly, local legends talk about the gender of these glaciers, male and female, as well as their meetings and the birth of new glaciers. Our trek starts at Hoper, a beautiful valley with green fields and fruit orchards, which is also famous for its seed potatoes which are exported to other parts of Pakistan, especially Gilgit-Baltistan.
Rash Peak remains one of the peaks of the Hisper trekking area, from where K2 can be glimpsed in the distance on a fine day. Following the fast-flowing streams from Hoper to Rash Lake you follow the ridge behind the lake which offers wonderful views down to the Hisper gorge and a panorama of Golden Peak, Malubiting, Miar, the whole of Hunza with Ultar and Passu peaks, the whole of Nagar and the mountains north of Hisper. With a bit of luck with the weather, you can have views of K2, Broad Peak, and G-IV. Nowhere else in the Karakoram can you get such a spectacular view on such a short trek.

Islamabad to Rush Peak Gilgit
From Islamabad – Gilgit:
Gilgit fly to Gilgit (weather dependent). Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.
In case of flight cancellation (12 – 2 pm) by bus to Chilas on the Karakorum Highway, stay at the hotel.
Gilgit – Hunza:
Gilgit/Chilas –Hunza Driveon KKH through legendary Hunza where peace and contentment reign. Overnight at the hotel.
Karimabad – Hopper Valley:
Barpu Giram (3000m) Drive to Hoper and trek the Hoper Glacier and pass through the Nagar Valley. Trek on the Hoper glacier about 3/4 hours. Night camp.
Barpu Giram – Chidin Haraie:
Chidin Harar (4440 m) From Barpu Giram to Chidin Harar it is a steep section over 1100 m. From Bericho Kor the trail continues to climb. It is a 3-4 hour climb to the top of the ridge. A night in the camp.
Chidin Haraie – Rush Peak:
Rash Peak (5098m) is another hour to a small pass, after which you cross the plateau for 30 minutes, passing the first flowing streams from Hoper to Rash Lake. Return to Chidin Harar. A night in the camp.
Chidin Haraie – Karimabad:
Karimabad Trek to Hur and Road to Karimabad. Night at the hotel.
Kariamabad Hunza:
Hunza: Visit the 987-year-old Altit Fort and the 610-year-old Baltit Fort. The fort sits on a rocky outcrop at the foot of Ultar Nala, a night at the hotel.
Karimabad – Gilgit:
Drive back to Gilgit. Half-day city tour of Gilgit. Overnight at the hotel.
